"Natural gas burns cleaner than conventional gasoline or diesel fuel due to its lower carbon content."

- U.S. Department of Energy, Alternative Fuels Data Center

LNG for NY is a group devoted to curbing our reliance on diesel fuel by enabling New Yorkers to use liquefied natural gas to fuel their vehicles.

In New York State, no vehicle is permitted to use liquefied natural gas ("LNG") as a transportation fuel. This prohibition makes New York State less competitive than other states because it prevents the use of a cleaner, cheaper fuel alternative. In fact, New York State is THE ONLY state in the US to not allow LNG to be used as a transportation fuel.

Using LNG is an environmentally responsible measure, helping to provide cleaner air and ensuring the health and welfare of future generations of Americans. By switching from diesel fuel to LNG, we can reduce or total vehicular emissions by over 25%. As part of the reduction in total emissions by 25%, we can reduce volatile organic compound emissions, which have been found to cause cancer, physical irritations, asthma, and a host of other maladies, as well as smog, are reduced by 89%. Further, we can reduce the amount of particulate matter, which has been found to impact our climate, by 90%.

Bill No. A4202 would lift New York's stifling restriction and allow LNG to be used as a transportation fuel outside of the New York City area. We encourage you to contact your local Assemblyperson and tell them you want cleaner air for our residents and that you support A4202.
